Ally Ang
Successful Poem
If I could sharpen this poem
into a point deadly enough
to press against the landlord’s throat
If I could spit this poem into the face
of the boss who hoards property & profit
while his workers starve
If I could load this poem with bullets
to punctuate the heart of the cop
who terrorizes our streets
If I could wrap this poem
around the billionaire’s neck
as I drag him, screaming
towards the guillotine
Then maybe I would consider this
a successful poem.
